The weather has been horrid this week and isn't looking too much better the rest of the week. With that being said, when could we possibly know when and if it's going to be called. I have to leave work early on Friday and could avoid that if we know it's getting called anyway.
Generally rain outs will not be announced until the day of the race on Friday at Deming. The weather is so funny in Washington State and unfortuantely you just never know. If you try to guess too far in advance you will be wrong 50% of the time so Paul will always do whatever he can to make a race go and wait as long as is necessary before he calls the race.
As you can see it rained like mad all week leading up to Playday and rained on Saturday as well yet Paul was still able to give us a good track for Sunday's playday even with all of the rain. Skagit, Elma, Cottage Grove, all would have canceled a week in advance!
I live in Sedro Woolley and at times last year it was 70 degrees and sunshine. I get within 1/2 mile of the track and it's pouring rain. I've seen it pouring rain in Sedro and I get up to the track and it's beautiful. I've seen it rain at the track all morning, we get the races in and it starts dumping right after. There are no easy answers except that in Washington State the weather is so unpredictable that if everytime the forecast said "Rain" Paul canceled...We'd only have about 10 races a year!
I don't think you will get an answer until Friday and it will likely not be until Paul walks outside takes a look at the track, pits, and parking lot, and makes a decision. He will always error on the side of racing and personally I thank him for that!
