Paul has stated that for Deming's purposes he intends to combine the JR and SR 250 classes for 06 due to this year's car count. He has also said that he would like to start a 600 restricted class. However, both of these decisions will be impacted by the NWMSA rules meetings to determine what classes we will sanction. it is possible that a 600 restricted class could exist as a non-sanctioned "track" class, which would not enjoy the authority of the NWMSA rulebook, tech, and points fund.
JUst so there is no confussion let us make it clear; Deming Speedway WILL have a 600 restricted class as well as a 250 class. There will be NO 250 jr class. As for point money the club recieves money back from the track so All classes would get paid from it including a new restricted class.
The 600 restricted class will be treated the same as all the other classes as far as the track is concerned. Deming Speedway plans on sanctioning the new class and at the moment there are no other tracks on the Clubs schedule, so Deming would continue to be the only source for the points fund. So the Rules meeting will have no effect to if the restricted class get paid.
I appreciate you confirming the existance of the 250 class in Deming's future. We hope to continue to promote and build the class. I do have a concern about one of your statements though.
"Deming would continue to be the only source for the points fund"
Are club dues and 50/50 not a source of the point money? Unless something has changed, the club managed the 50/50 which has generated points money. It was held in the club's bank account. I recall my dad being the signing responsible party for the 50/50 as far as lpaperwork was concerned when he was president. I am not saying that the track does not contribute, I am saying that I feel your statement that Deming is the sole source is erroneous and misleading.
As far as my original statement, the NWMSA will still have to vote to sanction the class in order for it to receive the coverage of the NWMSA rulebook, tech, and points monies. The decision will clearly be heavily influenced by the track's power, but the voting members of the club have the collective authority to choose where CLUB point money goes. That is why the club exists.
I would like to point something out. If it wasnt Paul letting the club sell 50/50 at the track and if Paul didnt give the club money from the back gate the only source of points fund would be the membership which doesnt add up to a lot. I would also like to point out that last year I struggled to get people to sell 50/50 even with Paul letting the 50/50 seller into the track for free no one from our so called club would step up and do it until this year when Tena Brown offered to help with finding people to sell them. She is now running into the same problem and she ends up selling them herself. So you see with out Demings contribution I dont think you would have much of a point fund. getting people that belong to this club to volunteer for anything is like pulling teeth. Every year its the same people that help with everything. banquet set up, picnic set up etc.
I agree with you Brandy, it is disappointing sometimes that there is a lack of commitment to the club. I commend Tena in her efforts, as well as all the other people who are still contributing their valuable time to the club and the track.
I have a question that might help cool down some rumers down here, what age is going to be allowed to run in the restricted class? I hear talk down here that 10 year olds are going to be allowed to drive these, big mistake in my opion.
I hope it's more of a $$$ thing. That this class will be for people that want to run a restricted 600.And maybe that will help keep the cost down.Because a $ 3000. to $ 4000 ..600 are not going to be able to run with most of the 600 that race that class now.
in response to the age question there are alot of quarter midget and kage kart drivers 9 to 10 years old who have the experience and ability to drive these cars.you never know some might be able to run upfront against the older drivers.
Well..Just let me say that we have one of the youngest [13 yr ]and smallest driver's in the 600 class. He started in quarter midgets at 4 1/2 yr...Yes.. quarted midgets is a great way to start. But he has since raced ...Jr sprints...and 250...To say that a 9 and 10 yr can get in a 600 and run with older season driver's is kinda ..well...wrong. To say that is selling this class short .This class is full of very talented drivers, and most have been racing for years. So to think 2 or 3 years in a quarter midget is the same as driving a 600 ...Heaven help us all.
