I was reviewing the rulebook for the 250 single (pro class) and it lists the weights and displacements as 610lbs and 266cc (as they should be). However, near the bottom of the same section it states that if a stock bore/stroke engine is used that the weight is 525. I do not beleive that this is correct (especially considering that this years rules for the 250 class should be the same as last, as it is the third and final year of our rule freeze). If someone could clarify this for me then that would be great. I am almost positive that it is an error that has been overlooked, but want to confirm.
My other question is if the 250 pro and junior classes are still running seperate, or will they be combined this season?
i think its right because a car that is faster should be heavier but the slower cars(stock) should not have to be as heavy to keep up with the bored out cars. But thats what i think. Im not really sure though

5.30 "will follow 250 single class rules except: stock bore, stock stroke weight 525 lbs"
Clearly, rule 1975.1c and 5.29 contradict one another. Furthermore, 5.29 only makes reference to the 610 weight on "stroke". Therefore, an .085 over stock stroke motor could satisfy this rule at 525 lbs while reaching 266cc displacement. In addition, 5.30 states itself as an exception to the standard 250 single rules, but has similar wording to 5.29.
This leads me to believe that rule 5.29 in the 250 single section is erroneous. As i mentioned before, the 250 single class placed a 3 year "rules freeze", and the 2005 season would be the third and final season under the freeze. Therefore, it would not be possible to grant a weight advantage for variations in motor displacement. This was done to stabilize the engine market, requiring fewer yearly upgrades and control costs. By allowing 525 lb 249cc cars to compete in the 250 single class would grant a substantial advantage to the lighter car (proven by the multipe qualifying times in the 250 jr. class at 610 lbs. during the 2004 season that were competetive with 250 sr times.)
If anyone could clarify this discrepancy it would be greatly appreciated, as I see that the wording of the current rules are unclear and allow for a wide range of interpretations that could mislead people in their preparation for the season. Past experience shows us that where there is a loophole or "foggy" area in the rule book, there will most definitely be exploitation.
