Abenroth Finishes 2013 Strong

9/24/13

Deming, WA With his 2013 season now in the books, Isaac Abenroth can look back with a sense of satisfaction after winning on the final Friday night show of the year and taking second in points at Deming Speedway in the 600 Restricted division. The 14 year old from Lake Stevens, WA picked up his first win in the division with a late race pass amongst heavy traffic.

2013 was an incredible season of growth for Isaac, who entered the year with a brand new car and engine combination as he tackled his sophomore campaign at Deming Speedway in the far northwest corner of Washington. Papa John Abenroth, the car owner and head engineer, brought a fresh Honda power plant and new XXX 600 to the operation for the season, which saw Isaac start out red hot. It took the youngster little time to adjust to his new ride, leading most of an early main event before a bit of bad racing luck bit him, robbing him of his first win in the division. Consistent top five runs were his calling card throughout the year, but that elusive victory lane appearance continued to taunt Isaac as the season began wrapping up. On Friday night, Abenroth was not to be denied that victory; after starting on the pole, Isaac slipped back to third on the opening lap before a caution flag flew for wet track conditions. Deming officials reworked the surface and relined the field up based on their lap one running order and thats when Abenroth went to work. With a dogged determination about him, Abenroth measured, stalked and when the time came, pounced on an opening left by race leader Dylan Resch in traffic. Abenroth had been rolling the extreme bottom of turns three and four with Resch in the middle, when Resch was slowed by a lapped car. Abenroth took full advantage moving past Dylan for the lead and snagging the eventual win.

After all the success Ive had in quarter midgets and junior sprints, two years was a very long time to wait for a win. Im lucky in that traffic broke my way, but sometimes luck has to break your way as opposed to the way its gone for us this season, having led two races with very few laps left and then breaking. None of this would be possible without Dad, Mom, Papa and Craig. This win was really special to me for many reasons, but tops of all of them is that my driver trainer in quarter midgets, Mr Skip (Chapman) passed away recently and I wanted to win this for him. This year has been awesome with my new car and motor, and now that we have one win and a great point finish, we can go out and get #2 early in 2014! said Isaac.

Isaac and all the family behind the #91 XXX would like to thank Ontra Marketing Group, Powder Coating Inc, Triple X Race Co, Gotmoss.com, Fab-Tech and Carls Towing. Abenroth will resume his 600 Restricted racing in April of 2014 at Deming Speedway
