TRACK CHAMPIONS

MY QUESTION TO EVERYONE IS OF THIS, SHOULD A PERSON STILL BE CONSIDERED A TRACK CHAMPION OR EVEN BE ABLE TO HOLD THERE POINTS IN THE DRIVER STANDINGS WHEN OTHER DRIVERS HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR ?  ARE THE DRIVERS THAT ARE AT THE RACES EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT PENALIZED ....SHOULD WE PUSH FOR DRIVER'S CHAMPIONSHIP AND CAR OWNER 'S CHAMPIONSHIP ?

Deming has always awarded points to the car (or "team" if you will) because as we all know it is pretty tuff to have a successful season by yourself. I think that thinking of a championship just in terms of the driver only, leaves out a large part of what is all about. If nything having to replace your driver for a night or two would be considered a penalty. I don't think NASCAR separates points for their Championship for the same reason, racing is a team sport. That is not to say that the driver is not the biggest part; in some cases it is and others maybe not but that is another debate. I see  don't see anyone at Deming bringing in "ringers" to help win a Championship. Sometimes a guy just can't make it. Why should we elevate a driver over anyone else on his team? I know for our group we work together so if one of us can't make it we try and fill the hole, driver or crew. We share the good times and the bad times but in both cases we have fun. I don't know if you have ever noticed but when ever Brock wins a race the whole team is in the picture, and the same goes if we win with a different driver, because whether Brock is there or not the rest of us still have job to do so why penalize the crew? I think we all know how hard it can be to get good commited people to be crew members, I think rewarding the car or "team" works well. I know we would not have the same success if Kevin, Ben, Gary, and little Grant were not part of it, and for sure it would n ot be as much fun.

But that is what I think I am sure there many other views.

GRANT,

I DONT KNOW EXACTLY HOW NASCAR DOES, BUT DOESNT THE DRIVER HAVE TO START THE RACE, AND THEN TURN HIS CAR OVER AT A PIT STOP ?.. I DONT KNOW EXACTLY BUT WANTED DIFFERENT VIEWS..

the drivers in nascar dont turn over their cars to another driver during a pit stop they have to make pit stops for fuel and tires but not to switch drivers, they drive the whole 500 laps or miles or how ever the races length is on their own. I think that it is better that deming awards the point to the car and not whos driver because then you get siblings or cousins that have to share their car and race everyother week and thats unfair to not award them with their deserved points. Drivers sometimes make deals with thier crews, like roland for instance he lets shufeldt drive his car a few weeks and he drives his car a few weeks theres no reason to penalize them.

The way Nascar does it the Driver who starts the race gets the points and the car owner gets points that's why when the take points away they take them from both the car owner and driver  I also think that Skagit has a driver points and a car owner points system might be worth checking into for next year

heres a question.. why is chong still in the points series race when he has not completed 75% of the races.. colton has ran more then 25% of them.. it cleary staets in the rules a driver must have completed 75%...... why is he still listed in the points as 4th?

Because point are awarded to the car and not the driver. The car has been there every week. Should Roland not get his points or Brock or Jason or any number of people who have had different Drivers.?

Grant,

My question to all was about trying to hopefully set up something for next year, this year is in the books. Paul has run and done the program extremley well, but I would say that I dont agree that the driver should not get the points when another driver drives the car. a track champion is a single driver that has obtained the most amount of points. to have a multiple number of drivers drive a car that then call one of them a track champion is not right.. im not focusing on one driver, but to the driver that has loyally been to the track every friday night and passed on the opportunity to drive at a different track because he was at the track to defend his position in the points,,,,I personally feel that one driver shall only be in position for the points in which he or she has only earned...  to be considered a season champion.. and a completly different point title for car points.

If you feel points should go to the driver than the 00 car should be docked Colton drove there car to and he is in third in points the rules have been this way for along time if you dont agree with them than go race somewhere else and let us who dont have a problem race and have fun but stop crying about everything  if you feel someone is cheating  ask for a teardown but stop crying if your not having fun at the track take up another hobby we race to have fun there is not a million dollars on the line
