The outdoor track in Salem is close to done the surface is done and the walls are in and the fence is almost done. The stands need to be placed. The track is a little longer and wider than the indoor.
The micros will be racing on Tuesday Aug 31st from 5-8. I will post the registration forms when they are done. The only class that will be running will be the stock 600 class. Payout info is still being decided but it should be about $500.00 to win. The track is 20' wider and 30' longer than the indoor. Micros will be running WITH wings.
An additional date has been added for Micros, Friday August 27th, Opening night of the Fair. We will run WINGLESS 600 Micros and a Quarter Midget support Group.
Here is a link to a panoramic view of the track as of July 1st just after the base was cut in, video is taken from the Main Spectator Area http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssREqcspxr4 , The pits will be in the grass at the end of the video and yes it will be cut.
$300.00 to win paying down to 10th place.
Have Questions? give me a call, again this is for the August 27th WINGLESS Date.
We ran an 11 tooth and a 53 tooth in the indoor track. We will try a 51 for the outdoor. That is in 3rd gear. The track is not that much longer but is wider.
For those of us that may now know how big the indoor track is.. How big is this outdoor track? Is it banked? If so, how much?
Thanks, Kelly
The Outdoor Track is a strong1/6th mile. Turns 1 and 2 are flat and 3 and 4 are banked, this is by design (gunna make you work for your setup). The banking for 3 and 4 is not quite done yet and won't be very steep but should end up somewhere between 15 and 25 degrees.
