The 2009 rules as voted on during the December meeting require additional clarifications. This will be done at the March meeting. As such, we will not be posting a copy of the 2009 rule book on the website until after that meeting. We will be documenting the clarifications via the meeting minutes and incorporate into the rule book. I suggest if you feel passionately about any of the rules listed below, you attend the meeting. Here is a summary of the items that have been brought to my attention:
6.2 "No titanium valves" - This statement is intended for engines that did not come stock with Ti valves. As an example, you would not be required to replace the stock valves with non-ti in an 08R6R. A motor with Ti valves stock will be permitted to run the stock Ti valves. The 08R6 valves may not be used in an 05R6
6.2 "All motors max RPM 15,300". My proposed clarification is that this statement is removed, as rev limits are covered by "Stock CDI/Black Box must remain showroom stock. No modifications internal or external". Depending on year and make of engine, the RPM limits will vary, and we will adopt the published rev limits from the US6A.
6.11(wings) "Right side maximum 54" x 20". Left side board maximum 54" x 30"." The clarification here will be on right side panels, which would be allowed to taper, provided that the average height = 20". As an example: 18" front & 22" rear or 17" front & 23" rear would both be legal, as both average to 20" height.
In addition, I have fielded questions on whether the head is considered an internal part, relative to the rule in 6.2 "No mixing of internal parts (except valves and cams) from different year and make engines, even if made by the same manufacturer". I will follow precedent that the head is considered an internal part because the combustion chamber and intake/exhaust runners are internal surfaces.
